Gnomus from alt.fan.blade-runner recently shared this bit of very sad news with us:
The man who coined the phrase "sci-fi," who created Famous Monsters of Filmland magazine and the character Vampira, who collected decades worth of SF and movie memorabilia and welcomed tens of thousands of SF, fantasy and horror movie fans to his home in the Hollywood HIlls to share it, and had an immeasurable impact on their lives, passed away yesterday. "Uncle Forry" had just turned 92.
I had the pleasure of meeting Forry on a number of occasions, including touring his house twice, and he was always a gracious, giving person. He was like the eccentric uncle I never had, but always wanted. There will not be another like him.
Luke Hooft also noted that Uncle Forry's grandfather had built the Bradbury Building of Blade Runner (and many other small and silver screen outings) fame.
Gnomus relplied:
And he was also friends with Ray Bradbury. A lot of people think that the Bradbury Building was named after Ray. Of course it was built before he was born.

{rokbox}images/stories/posts/rid460-150x150.jpg{/rokbox}You wait 25 years for a new Ridley Scott science fiction film then two come along at once. Not content with hatching a plan to bring Brave New World to the big screen, the British director of Alien and Blade Runner is to adapt Joe Haldeman's 1974 novel The Forever War.I looks like this will happen before 'Brave New World.' It's taken the guy long enough to notice that his SF movies were his best. Let's hope he brings us something as interesting and as engaging as Blade Runner and Alien. Read more...

Like you, I have been waiting over 20 years for this and like you, I hope it is everything we wished for.

"The entertainment industry has lost a genius and I lost one of my best friends," Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, of "Terminator" fame, said in a statement Monday.
Stan Winston, the renowned makeup, creature- and visual-effects wizard whose memorable work on "Aliens," "Terminator 2: Judgment Day" and "Jurassic Park" earned him four Academy Awards, has died. He was 62.

Blade Runner T-Shirts

I've been busy lately, concentrating on making t-shirts of my favourite movie, book and music images. Of course Blade Runner ended up with it's own category. Yes, I am pimping shirts, but I know you'll like them. Check out the Blade Runner section of my store. There are lots of goodies there, not just Blade Runner stuff.
Here's a selection of the Blade Runner…

Thanks to Christian Ienni for sending me this CD in the post. :)
Ripped to flac with EAC. I've generated a new front cover, it's not great but is
a better resolution than you can find elsewhere online.
Find it in the downloads audio section.
Blade Runner the Complete Music Collection

This fan project was started in 2008 by 'focuspuller' of originaltrilogy.com. His thread details his journey towards and the work done on his take of the Blade Runner soundtrack. BRCMC is to be a musically pure collection, meaning that it is devoid of sfx and dialogue, a dream that many of us in the BR fan community have shared for nigh on 28 years!

10 Tracks from Master Tape

This is really the one that started it all. Disappointed with the New American Orchestra version that was released in 1982, this tape was leaked out by disgruntled fans on the inside. The quality is far surpassed on subsequent boots, but it still holds interest if only as a curiosity and a historical reference.
I was pleasantly surprised to find this in my collection…

Broken stuff

You may have noticed over the last few days, broken bits on the site. We seem to be having js conflicts with some of the site components. K2 (the blog bit), SIG Pro (the gallery bit), RokStories (the header story thing), and RokBox (single image display). This is a bit of a let down, since I was led to believe that these things were…
